Server Validation not displaying on same page

Hi there, first I would like to say that I have looked in this forum first for a solution, I did find one post helpful and I had followed it closely (but my eyes may be blind as it still didnt work for me)

This is the thread that I followed (without success :(

showthread.php?t=21834&highlight=server+validation

I am uploading a login file to show you my code.

am I missing something obvious?

All I want to do is a simple validation on the same page so that if a username and/or password is wrong then an error message is display. (all my validation, I want to do with CSS rather then spry etc to keep the coding to a minimal and simple)

regards

Christopher

the problem on your page is code order.

Lines 8 - 27 is the Security Assist Authenticate user server behavior, lines 28 - 42 is the coed for the validation.

these two code blocks need to be swapped around so the validation code (lines 28-42) is before the authenticate user code.
