payment provider list?

Hi,
I realize that eCart has quite a few payment providers implemented or "known to work". Paypal, Woldpay, Authorize net etc.
Is there a list of available / preferred ones? I would like to know if there are any recommendations. You guys must have gathered a lot of experience with various gateways.
Would be happy to get some hints.
Thanks

Paypal payments Pro and Authorize.net are gateways I prefer over the others, but that is more of a personal and geographical choice
