Cannot setup database connections...

Besides the username and password, what would the other settings be in step 2 (hostname, database)...I don't see what I have wrong.

lightbox/

I have a cms database and a gallery database. This is on a new server that I do not have control of. I have been emailing a lady for a week to try and get the host name and full database name (she sent me the photo and said she told me everything in the picture anyways). I am getting annoyed with having a whole site waiting to upload and being held back back this little speed bump. localhost doesn't work as the server name.

looks like the host name should be:
localhost

or try:
localhost:3306

looks like the database name is "cms"

I was hoping you wouldn't say that :/ I tried it all like that before and it didn't work. Hmm

"it didn't work" is a very broad statement.

In the picture, it shows the host name as "localhost:3306" the database name as "cms" and the username as "root".

it doesn't show the password.

when you say it doesn't work:
Are you trying to create the connection within Dreamweaver?

Or are you having problems when running the install on the remote server?

are you getting an error message?

If so, what is the error message?

This is strictly on step two of the installation wizard. I get this error:

ERROR: Could not connect to the MySQL database. Please verify the server, username, and password are correct.

And to my knowledge, I verified it all and it is correct.

If the installer is not able to connect to the server, the information she has given you is not correct. Only the server owner would be able to tell you the correct connection information to use, I would have no way of finding that out for you.

the only piece of information that is not in the screen shot is the root password, I would suspect the root password as being the problem.

make sure that you are entering the correct root password.
