select from "open browser window"

I'm looking for a workflow to click a link on a form (page) to open a smaller browser window, where the viewer can select and a thumbnail and have that selection set the thumbnail file name to a session var, close eh window and populate a text field.

I'm assuming a session rather than a post but I'm open to suggestion.

Any suggestions on the work flow would be appreciated.

Nick
