Need to assign second field from DD

trying to set a category field AND a CatID field from a drop down in a product file insert page.
Category and it's ID are coming from category SQL table's recordset containing both fields.

I can change things such that cat id OR the Category gets set in the product record but not both.

Appreciate any suggests.

you dont want to store both the cat id and cat name in the products table.

you should only be storing the cat ID in the products table, this will create a relationship to the category name, to return the product information including the category name, you would use a join query:
sql_join.asp
