CSS Menu Writer and Adobe Contribute

When I try to make menu content updates while Adobe Contribute is activated with file check in and check out, any content changes I make show in my menu editor but do not appear on the site. I have tried manually uploading the CSSMenuWriter directory but doesn't seem to help. Anyone have any experience with this problem?

most likely the cssmenuwriter/cssmw/menu.php file is checked out by the contribute so it is not writable.
