Input changes in database and post

When any info is posted to page or database, if there is something in quotes or using ' or " it adds a / backslash. I am using a text field. How do I get rid of that?

it sounds like your host has the magic_quotes_gpc setting in the php.ini enabled, this is a deprecated function and should be disabled in the php.ini file, contact the hot to have them disable the magic_quotes_gpc setting.

remote host

I am using my remote host..I am on a really old mysql and php but uploaded the php5.ini file and didn't work.

I guess it will be ok on the host. BTW, using 1and1.

I've not had any problems getting 1 and 1 to recognize the php5.ini file, you should contact 1 and 1 support if you are having difficulties with this.
