Using paypal buttons to update records

Using paypal buttons to update records

I am trying to use the paypal buttons in conjunction with data assist to update a record while simultaneously leading a user to paypals website. When I select the update record function and the trigger as (Button: submit pressed) it works getting the user to paypal but does not update my recordset.

The code for the button looks like this

<form action="https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr" method="post">
<input type="hidden" name="cmd" value="_s-xclick">
<input type="hidden" name="hosted_button_id" value="PCM6FSX8CFK6G">
<input type="image" src="https://www.paypalobjects.com/en_US/i/btn/btn_buynow_SM.gif" border="0" name="submit" alt="PayPal - The safer, easier way to pay online!">

Is there something I need to add to have it update the record as well?

You cannot perform an update on the page using the paypal button as the form action sends you to paypal not back to the page where the data assist code is which is what is required for dataassist to work.

You would need to you use an ajax solution to detect the click on the PayPal button to perform an update, you can find a great primer on using ajax with the jquery library http://www.webicy.com/tech-support/3274-simple-ajax-jquery.html
