About shipping

Hi there, I was reading the eCart specifications regarding shipping providers and there's this text:

"eCart provides real-time shipping quotes from a number of world-class shipping services listed below. You must sign up with a shipper to use this service. Click sign up to register with a preferred shipping provider."

Exactly why you need to sign up with the providers?

Thanks a lot!

Arturo

eCart can perform real time shipping rate lookup using FedEx, USPS, UPS, DHL and Australia Post.

the shipping rate lookup takes the shipping address that is entered an checkout, the total cart wight and the stores location, sends that info to the selected shipping provider, the shipping provider then returns a quote for shipping that package that can be used for the shipping porice.

the FedEx, USPS, UPS, DHL and Australia Post servers require that you have an account with them to perform the rate quote lookup.

Thanks a lot Jason!

But the question, do I have to own that account or needs to be from my client?

Thanks

A.-
