Is database code portable now

Is the code inserted into the database for the uploads portable from development server to production server without amendments?

ie if my server folder is
/uploads/images/xx.jpg

is that what is inserted into the database?

or does the latest HTML editors do what the old version did an put in the full server path?
Which straight away invalidates all the image links when moved to a different server.

the server root relative path:
/uploads/images/xx.jpg

is stored in the database, not including the server address.

So its still not portable?

to clarify

develop
index.php
database will it store
/~myusersite/uploads/images/****

production
when its moved to
www.theproductionsite.com
all database entries point to
/~myusersite/uploads/images/****

it is portable as long as the test and production use the same folder structure.

you should be using a subdomain for the test site, for example,

index.php

database will it store

/uploads/images/****

which would be portable to your production site.

the portability depends on how you configure the testing site.
