Bing search only ever returns 3 results

Bing search only ever returns 3 results

I have a bit of strange problem with this new extension. I've got it working, but it's only ever returning 3 results, even though I specified 10 results per page in the wizard and all of my pages being indexed in Bing already (I checked in their webmaster centre).

You can see my page with the issue here : test-site

When searching for the phrase 'website' it should return more than 3 results, but it doesn't. I've tried several other search terms too and although I get some relevant results back there are never more than 3 links returned.

Has anyone else had this experience or can anyone advise me on what's going wrong?

I see what you mean. But boy it's FAST!

Yeah - fast, but not working properly.

Do you have any idea what could be causing this to happen Tom?

Sadly... My trusty CS3 is not supported, but I hope to have an opportunity to play with your new toy today.

I'm really jealous that you can play.

This is an odd one Ian,

earlier today I was able to reproduce the problem when viewing your site.

I then went directly to bing.com and entered the following search:

site:www.yellowcircle.co.uk website

This gave 3 main results but a listing of other related results.

After doing that search on the bing site, I cannot reproduce the problem on your site, I get the results shown in the attached screen shot.

I asked Ray to test it after I started getting the 30 results, and he is still getting only 3, I asked him to go over to bing.com and use the same search I did:

but He didn't have the same results of returning 30 after doing the search on bing.com

looking through Google, there seams to be a lot of people having similar issues with the bing api returning incorrect results.

Do you get the same results if you put search page on the www.yellowcircle.co.uk domain rather than hosting it on another domain?

Hi Jason,

Yes, I've tried the pages on the yellowcircle.co.uk domain and get the same results. I've also tried having the results displayed on a different page than the search form too and I still only get 3 results.

However, depending on the search term used I do get different pages returned so I know my site is indexed correctly in Bing!

If this is an issue with the APi rather than your extension how will things proceed? As WA have a 15 day refund policy I don't want to pay for the extension if it's not going to work properly for me.

Ray just let me know a bit ago that he is now getting the 30 results I was getting.

This does seam to be an issue with the API, and not our code.

Where it is a problem with the API, our hands are pretty well tied to do anything about it. I can find a number of threads through Google search on various forums of people having a similar issue, I would hope that the Bing people would look into the problem to correct it, but there's not much we can do.

Are you going to inform them about it? You could do that.

Ok, if it's the APi I'll give it a few days. I just tried it again myself and am still only getting the 3 results returned, though I'm in the UK so if Bing have made changes they may not have come across the pond yet.

Sorry, I was referring to Jason and WA taking that initiative.
