Googlemaps and recordsets reliability

Googlemaps and recordsets reliability

I find that if I have less than around a dozen locations drawn from a recordset then the Googlemap works great. If I have more then it's less predictable. A customer of mine has around 60 locations on their map, and they rarely get to see more than 20.

I'm not sure if this is because if an address fails to be 'geo-encoded' properly that the remaining ones that appear after that in the recordset fail, or if it's because the Googlemap system won't allow that many lookups in the specified time.

Can anyone shed any light on this and suggest what I could do to improve the reliability?

Thanks all.

The most recent version of the extension should automatically cache the geocoded coordinates so that this won't happen after the first view of the page.

It is possible you are using an older version or the permissions are not set properly on the cache file and it isn't being stored correctly. This issue should have been fixed in the most recent version by creating the cache file.

Thank you, I'll check the version that I have. Do I just update the extension in Dreamweaver and then re-apply the googlemap, or is there a simpler way to update the webassist files that already exist on the server?

You will have to edit and update your current map and it should overwrite the code.
