Digital File Pro (UE 4.0.1) | Using Database ID to Create the Name

For the most part, I keep my image names very simple during uploads. I don't allow user input, I just capture the image and build the name based on the database id.

EG: <database_id>_thumb.jpg, and/or <database_id>_detail.jpg

Getting the latter end of these names is simple, but I am having a hard time with capturing the database_id.

1: Is this possible within the "Digital File Pro" upload dialog box or do I need to custom code this?

2: For an update it would be simple because the database_id already exists, but how would I capture the ID during an insert?

3: Am I better off creating a Data Assist insert, or can this work with a simple Dreamweaver insert (or more often than not, custom forms) as well?

For the record, I am coming from Kollection/ADDT which managed this from the dialog. I'm more than willing to learn a new way, I just need a little guidance :) Thanks.

when using the data assist insert record behavior, this is simple, the record ID is stored in a session variable. See the Session section of the insert record behavior interface. in the upload file behavior, click the lightning bolt next to file name and select the session created by the insert record behavior

Thanks for the info Jason. I was initially trying this with standard Dreamweaver inserts/updates - as well as some older custom forms. I figured DataAssist might be the answer but haven't dove into that yet. I guess it is now time :)

The DataAssist insert and update behaviors really offer a lot more features and flexibility then the standard DW Insert and Update behaviors.

Originally I was posting that I still could not get this working on the insert page, but that was user error. I did not have the trigger for the upload set correctly.
