Option information

Option information

Hi,

Im wondering how option information is sent to the order table, trying to re-construct the data tables for my own purpose, but i notice in the order details table only had fields for ID numbers and product SKU code/name etc, if i have placed a specific option for my item such as size or colour, how is this information recorded when an order is placed, would i need to add fields in my order table to record this information?

How is information sent differently when using only eCart and not Data Assist too?

Thanks

eCart stores cart information to the orders and order details table.

to store option information, you will need to add columns to the order details table to store the options, and update the eCart Store Order Details behavior on the confirm page, bind the new option columns in the database to the option columns in the cart.

What about when not using a Data Assist connection, when only using eCart?

the eCart Store Order Details behavior is a part of eCart not data assist.

No part of my response had anything to do with data assist, only eCart.

you need to modify the table, add columns for each of your options types; color, size etc.

then edit the eCart Store order Details behavior on the confirm page. Bind the new option columns to the columns in your cart object for options.

I dont seem to have that server behavior on my confirm page even though i went through the payment checkout wizard

When you were saying about tables, does it HAVE to have a table as a backend, and dynamically link all the information from a table, instead of manually inputting the data from scratch? At the moment I dont have a database connected to it, would I need to in order to save the purchase options?

If you dont have a database defined, the checkout wizard will not configure the store order summary and store order details options.

You will need to have a database to store the order information, if there is no database, there is no way to store the order information aside from what the payment gateway offers.
