I am at wits' end...

I am at wits' end...

Hello, Forum world –

I have purchased the Super Suite with the thought of using PowerCMS as my solution to design a client-accessible website... however, I have spent the whole weekend just reading through this site trying to get the extensions connected, and up and running. However, around 1 a.m., I finally had some success – but now, I am receiving these messages:

Dreamweaver could not proberly convert the live page from the server

and

Table 'mysql.pcms2_users' doesn't exist

Also – after I installed the PowerCMS Wizard, it seems that I cannot use this feature, and I cannot see or add users, etc.

I have searched the forum only to find unresolved answers due to "private tickets" being opened.

I am getting further behind on my client's project, and feel that my next move would have to be to go back to Joomla...PLEASE don't send me back there! (I'm not a fan!) I would like THIS to be my resolution!

Thank you in advance,
Rachel

Ray,

I have updated the ticket with several replies. Please respond. I need a resolution, as I am nearing a deadline.

Thank you,
Rachel

THANK YOU, Ray!

Ray spent 1 hr and 42 mins with me via Screen Sharing to assist in resolving my PowerCMS issues. I want to follow up on my forum thread by thanking Ray for his assistance, and for explaining things as he worked – I am now up & running and hope to find these tools to be successful in building my CMS site.

(This is the first feeling of relief that I have had in days!!)

Care to share how you guys made it work?

Would you care to share how you guys managed to get it to work? I'm having a lot of trouble getting it to do anything (it does nothing in my case. Menus are there but nothing happens at all.) and I'm looking for anything that might give me a clue.

I feel your pain... however, after a long phone & screen share process with Ray, he seemed to uncover some things in the scripts, etc. that I would have never figured out... in fact, I'm not even sure how to explain everything he checked for me.

I would, however, look into the forum link below, where Ray made this comment:

Most that I have dealt with in support have been related to having magic_quotes_gpc enabled, or have had testing server setups so that the data is inserted into a different database than they might expect. Of course it won't work on .html pages either, and some may be running into that.

I would suggest opening a new forum thread with details on the error messages that you are getting. That is how Ray ended up helping me. In the meantime, here is the link to the forum I mentioned above:

Thanks

Thanks for the info.

The problem in my case is that I don't get any errors at all. It just absolute does nothing no matter what. DW itself functions normally but none of the PowerCMS Builder menus work. It's as if menus are dummy text and nothing exists. And this is after two reinstall attempts and performing all the usual tricks such as deleting .dat file and so on.

It would be helpful if it actually tries to do something, you know....

I know! It's frustrating when you are at a stand-still! My software installed just fine, but was useless in the beginning as well. This is exciting software when it works, but it seems that it has to be tweaked for everyone's personal use.

I'm not a Tech Guru, but the fact that you can see the menus, etc. after installing (twice) is an OK sign. It might be an issue with the Magic Quotes. (I remember Ray mentioning this when he was working on mine.)

Maybe try searching the threads for anything mentioning this – however, opening a brand new forum thread might be the best bet!

Good Luck – sorry I didn't have a simple answer. Hopefully the WA Team can help you!

You must be some kind of angel member or something, I took a chance, installed the beta version again (so far "Nothing happens" is the worst I got with the beta anyway), deleted .dat before launching DW, changed some minor parameters in the test server setting in DW site, and viola, IT LAUNCHED! And that happened like a minute after I got a notification from this post. Ha!!

Will have to update the support ticket now and then try setting up a site for real and see if it works....

Strangely, I still have no idea what triggered to launch. Maybe one of the things I changed in the site setting affected it. I'm afraid to recreate the issue though. :p

Ha! I'm No Angel!

I'm more of a VIRUS than an Angel!! If I was an Angel, I wouldn't have 2 forum threads and a support ticket open myself!!

I'm glad something worked for you! Maybe your positive vibes will help me now!

Good Luck on the Full Site!
