Overwriting Database Connection

If I manually define a database connection (either a dynamic one using the Dynamic Connections extension or the usual way in DW) at the beginning of the process and I call it something like ‘myConnection’, PowerCMSBuilder creates another database connection called ‘PowerCMSConnection’ and ignores the one I setup during the ‘Add Content to CMS’ phase. Is this supposed to be happening?

I've only been working on my testing server with MAMP Pro.

Yes, this is supposed to happen. I'm not entirely sure why they wrote it like this? Maybe Jason or Ray can explain??

Thanks, Ian. I'm anxious to here more insight from the support crew. Spent a good portion of the weekend trying nail down the process of getting this thing to work on just my testing server. As stated in other posts, this product can certainly benefit from more thorough documentation and/or tutorials.

It renames the connection because it interacts with the pages created for powerCMS. Since dreamweaver doesn't support dynamic connection names and we use dreamweaver to connect to the database we had to use a pre-defined connection name.

It creates a copy of the connection used the first time it is applied, so it isn't really ignoring your connection settings, it is just updating the name to work with the existing powercms files.

Thanks, Ray. So I assume its safe then to delete my original connection that's visible in the Database panel right above the one created by PowerCMS Builder?

Yes. It will only use the copied connection.
