PayPal Standard setup?

What do I need to do to configure PS4 for PayPal Standard (both on the PS4 side and the PP side)? Is there any documentation on how this differs from PayPal Pro?

In the Power store settings, set the Payment gateway option to PayPal standard, then enter your pay[pal account email address.

In your payapl account, enable IPN and set the IP Post back address to the address in the settings panel next to "IPN Page"

PayPal standard is a free service with paypal, transactions are not performed in real time, In other words, the checkout success page only means that paypal has excepted to process the transaction, it can take up to a day for the transaction to be processed with the merchant bank.

Paypal standard is also a remote checkout method where the customer leaves your site to set up the transaction.

payPal Payments Pro is a local checkout method, the customer never leaves your site, they enter credit card info directly on your site, the transaction is also processed in real time.

OK - thanks. I get the difference now.

Have just spent some time on phone with PayPal. I am now configured to use Payflow Pro as the gateway. PayPal tells me that as far as they can see everything is properly set up within the merchant account configuration. I have removed the existing API credentials and reinserted newly requested API credentials from PayPal, into the Gateway settings in PS4. I am not in test mode, and am not set to use the sandbox. When I submit the order, I get

"We're sorry
Your transaction could not be completed. Either your credit card information or billing address has problems and cannot be processed

Please return to checkout and try again."

PayPal tells me that the order never reached them. Can you help me diagnose this problem, please?

Thanks!

I have this process working now, with Ray's excellent assistance. Thank you!

Now I"m having a shipping issue, but I'll start a new thread on that one.

Ray can tell you more, but the database was crossed up on those pages. Seems to have been an upgrade issue associated with 4.0 -> 4.0.1

Same Transaction Completion Issues in PayPal Sandbox

Could someone tell me/us the what the solution to this issue is? I've been beating myself up over this for a while now and my client is getting anxious. I'm pretty sure I've got every thing set up as per the instructions in "Using the PayPal Sandbox to test transactions", but I keep getting the ""We're sorry Your transaction could not be completed" message and I haven't been able to find anything specific to this in the forums.

I'm setting up to use PayPal Express.

Is your power store a clean install of 4.01 or was it an upgrade for 4.0 to 4.01?

when you get to the failure page, look at the address in the address bar, does it include:
shipping=failed

as a query string variable at the end?

at what point to do you get sent to failure page?

After clicking the express checkout button on the cart page?

Or after clicking the submit order button on the pp_confirm page?
