umlaut validation

This took me a while, but my problem is that people in Europe or Canada use "special characters" like normal characters:-)
So if I want to validate a client side street name, it could easily be Hauptstraße (main street)

Validation does not accept it, because it insists, ß is no alphanumerical character. Does it mean I have to add äöüÄÖÜ ß each time in the "allowed" field? Or is there a way to include these "special characters" into the commonly accepted alphanumerical character set?
Remember that the same applies to French, Spanish and others, meaning that l'avenue des Champs-Élysées would not be accepted as a street name, nor Frédéric Chopin as a name, or am I wrong?

Yes is the simple answer, they would need to be added to the allow other box as shown in the screen shot below.

This is true also for slashes, ampersands, etc. etc.
