SecurityAssist start issues

I recently installed the Dreamweaver Extension SecurityAssist and can't even start the wizard. I followed the directions in the getting started file but the wizard option is shaded gray. Therefore it isn't an option to select and get started with password protecting my website. Any assistance in directing me to the step I am missing, would be great. Thanks!

before starting the security assist wizard you will need to perform the following steps:

1) Define a dynamic site in Dreamweaver
2) Create a new dynamic page and save it to the site

with the new dynamic page open in Dreamweaver, the site assist wizard will be available in the insert menu.

see out learning reources page for details on defining the Dreamweaver site:
resources.php

So, is there anyway to use Security Assist with an existing website that was not set up as a dynamic website? I have over 100 pages in my website and only need to password protect two of them. I tried to follow the steps in the attachment but they didn't seem to match up to what I was seeing on the screen. Is there another program that would work better for what I am trying to do?

Security Assist uses dynamic PHP, ASP or ColdFusion code.

it can only be applied to dynamic PHP, ASP or ColdFusion pages.

to apply security assist your existing pages, they will need to be renamed to use a dynamic extension like .php.

Dynamic code cannot be applied to static .htm pages.

I tried to rename a couple pages to php. That didn't seem to work to allow me into the SecurityAssist. Do I have to rename all the pages or just the ones that I want to apply password protection to? I am using Dreamweaver CS5 if that makes a difference.

before you can start the security assist wizard, you need to have a php page saved to your site and that php page needs to be open in Dreamweaver.

you will also need to have created the mySQL Database, and the database connection. Directions for creating the database connection are on the learning resources page:
resources.php

SecurityAssist Start Issues

I have now activated the Security Assist and created a SQL database. When I try to set up a SQL connection, it is giving me an error message saying I don't have a testing server connected.

I am currently keeping all my files on drive F under the XAMMP folder in a site named folder. I have tried to direct the connection many different directions and it continues to give me an error message. "The testing server for this site does not map to the MMHTTPDB.php URL. Verify that the URL prefix maps to the root of the site."

Do you have any ideas or can you direct me to a forum that can answer this? Thanks!

in the xampp folder, ther will be a subfolder named "htdocs"

the web address localhost/ maps to the root of this htdocs folder.

you should create a new subfolder under the htdocs folder for you site;
xampp/htdocs/newSite

this newSite folder will map to the web address:
newSite

your site files should go in this folder.
