Preventing session timeouts

Greetings,

What do i have to do to stop Power CMS from timing out when I am creating content?

I need it to stay online longer than it's default time (which I do not know what that is). That way instead of writing a paragraph, then clicking on update I am not bumped out to the login screen - losing all my changes in the process.

What needs to be changed to give it at least a several hour session? Please bear in mind that I am not a PHP programmer, I bought this program for it's ease of install.

Thanks,
Martin

Sessions Time limits are set on the server, increasing the time limit must be done by editing the php.ini file on the server.

See the following link for details:

I would suggest contacting your host to see what they can do for you.

Thanks for getting back to me Jason. I do not have access to the PHP.ini file on the server. Is there anyway to override the session timeout in the Power CMS code somewhere?

I know for a fact my hoster is not going to let me anywhere near the .ini file...

Thanks,
Martin

If you follow the link I provided, there is some discussion on using ini_set to over ride the servers settings at run time. In some cases, this can work, in other cases not.

At the end of the day, this is a server configuration issue, the people that will be able to help you are your host. they may have advice on setting up an htaccess file that can extend the session time out, or they may be able to edit the INI file for you. If the session time out settings _can_ be altered on your server, the host will be able to offer you advice on how to accomplish it.
