There's just too much wrong.

There's just too much wrong.

It gets wearing, - really tiring.

Recently Bought 2 copies Power CMS Latest Version. They don't work. Can't add pages. Green cross does nothing.

Bought Latest PowerGallery. You have to alter the paths by hand in each galleries index page after any install to get any gallery to work.

Bought HTMLEditor 3. That doesn't work, trying to apply it to PowerCMS (x2 - PCMS200). can't find styles. Link to Help Resources on Product Download Page is Broken. File Manager doesn't work. When applied to a new instance outside of PowerCMS, styles still not applied (apart from the body style!) File browser works, but image paths are wrong. These need to be corrected in code view. My Editor instance page is in a sub-directory. An example can be seen here.

Bought PowerStore 4 No option to change design (clicking 'Design' in Admin menu returns 'Internal Server Error') - Added Error reporting, no change.

If you're keeping count, that's 4 for 4.

We should be well past the stage by now when the first thing you have to do with each new release is lose a day either figuring out how to make it work or end up in the forum bothering the support staff.

When you make something, test it. Test it thoroughly. Pay someone to do it. Then pay someone to fix it. Then pay someone to test it again. Then release a solid, stable version. Don't charge your customers for the privilege of doing your testing.

The last couple of years have been an age of patches, workarounds and miscellaneous lines of code poached from these pages, and applied like cycle-tube patches to leaking inflatables.

I am genuinely sorry to approach the subject in this manner, - I'm very tired - and I have utmost respect for the support staff here who clean up the mess, bit by bit, imparting their own wisdom in tips and solutions. Frankly, if you didn't have Jason, you wouldn't have a company.

I know you have a huge combination of OS, DW versions, PHP configs, MySql versions and browsers to test against - and growing exponentially as time goes on, but this latest 'four in a row' has done my noodle in. Maybe I'm just unlucky, being the only person I know for whom every Google page's 'I'm Feeling Lucky!' button is permanently greyed out, but really, more needs to be done.

For the issue you are having with power gallery, see this thread to see if it fixes the problem:
showpost.php?p=81968&postcount=5

I will start a support ticket so we can look into the problem you are having with Power Store 4 and Power CMS.

See this thread for details on adding HTMLEditor 3 to PowerCMS:
showthread.php?p=88072#post88072

for the image paths issue, I suspect that there is a problem with either the HTTP Address used on the Local Info tab of the site definition, or the URL Prefix used on the Testing server tab, what have you entered for those 2?

Also in the WebAssist/Forms/HTMLEditor/Site Settings what is the upload folder set to?

you say the file manager doesn't work, but dont explain the issue, can you please provide more details so I can help with this?

For styles, you need to Click on the pencil icon next to the Modify the options listed in the Styles Menu of the HTML Editor Toolbar, then define your styles and their settings on the next page.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for looking into this, and for the links - I will check these out to see where I am going wrong.

I will send you login details for each of the PS4 and PCMS via my support ticket, and you can see the problem I'm having.

For the Power Gallery image paths problem, - the files are FTPd directly to the remote server, they don't go anywhere near DreamWeaver or its site definition.

For the HTML Editor paths, the local and remote site settings for a site with a simple HTML Instance uploaded seem to me to be correct (see the attached images). I checked the WebAssist/Forms/HTMLEditor/Site Settings, and the value entered was: htmleditor3/files. The file was selected by browsing to the folder in Dreamweaver. If I do the same again, it produces : /htmleditor3/files (which would be correct relative to site root). I reuploaded all files and tried again, but still no go. I went back to Dreamweaver and checked Site Settings (as above) again. The folder path was reset back to: htmleditor3/files.

Every time I do the 'browse to folder', it puts /htmleditor3/files in the field provided, but whenever I save it, it drops the slash. If I remove the 'htmleditor3/' bit - so that the path is at least relative to the document i.e: 'files' - that doesn't save either.

The HTMLEditor styles problem is apparently not a problem, but an enhancement. Ray has pointed out that I may have misunderstood enhancement.

What is particularly irksome is the certain knowledge that it will turn out in each case to be something particularly dumb that I have done.

Thanks

I wasn't suggesting that the power gallery paths had anything to do with the site settings. I directed you to this post for power gallery:
showpost.php?p=81968&postcount=5

What about the testing server settings, maybe the htmleditor3/ is being tacked on from the testing server URL.

Hi Jason,

With regard to the HTMLEditor3 images folder path, the webassist/kfm/configuration.php had the paths as:

$kfm_userfiles_address = '../../htmleditor3/files';
$kfm_userfiles_output = 'htmleditor3/files/';
which I changed to:
$kfm_userfiles_address = '../../htmleditor3/files';
$kfm_userfiles_output = 'files/';
It is now working. I would be interested for any insight as to why this might have happened, and as to why the site settings do not 'take'. i.e: what was my mistake?

Cheers.

Edit: The testing server settings seem to be OK to me too

your screen shots previously showed the remote server settings, can you send a screen shot of the testing server settings, i have a feeling the testing server may be the culprit

For those who are interested, the reason that the CMS wasn't working was because some moron (who shall remain namelessly neilo) managed to not upload some of the files. Although how he managed it, I don't know.

HTML editor 3

See this thread for details on adding HTMLEditor 3 to PowerCMS:
showthread.php?p=88072#post88072

Is there some explicable reason HTMLEditor 3 is not included with PowerCMS 2 installation if they already work together? This editor looks better then the HTML editor that's in there, or is it a matter of charging more for a premium editor?

Power CMS 2 uses the old HTML Editor 2 that was available at the time it was created.

HTMLEditor 3 was released last week.

we are looking into updating the Solution packs that use HTML Editor to update them to the new version.

That would be wonderful

Sorry I sounded a little sarcastic. I think by far this is the best piece of software you've produced. I've had very good luck with it and my clients love it. Thanks
