Database
I am confused on how a button can dynamically talk to a database. How do I specify which database the "Add to Cart" button will talk to?

when the add to cart button is pressed, it will run PHP code that will communicate with the database to return the selected item.
before you can add the add to cart button to your page, you first need to create a connection using Dreamweaver, In the connection you will set which database is used. You then need to create a recordset, this will select which table in the database is used.
When you add the add to cart from recordset behavior, you will need to specify which recordset it will add from.
How do I create a recordset? Because the "Look up item ID from recordset" option on the add to cart button is grayed out.
Creating a record set is a very basic Dreamweaver operation. Go to Insert -> Data Objects -> Recordset.
For details on creating a recordset, click the help button in the Recordset interface.
I have tried setting a recordset and there is no testing server. Is there a way to set the testing server to run online? Because I don't want to use my computer as a local host.
you do have to have a testing server set up for doing database development in Dreamweaver.
In some cases, it is possible to use your remote web hosting server as a testing server in Dreamweaver, but it really depends on how the host is set up. Some hosts will not allow an outside computer to connect to the mysql server, some require you to register your IP address to be able to make the connection.
though it is _possible_ to use the remote host, I dont recommend it. It would bne much better to set up a local testing server.
What would be an easy testing server program? I have tried xampp. That seems to have a lot of bugs. is there a better program?
xampp is the simplest testing server i have run across.
I am not sure what you mean when you say it has lots of bugs, i have not run into any issues using xampp.
I have had more issues with trying to configure PHP MySQL with IIS than I have had using xampp.
For some reason it isn't running the php scripts. Is there a way to fix this? I turned on Mysql, Apache, and everything else, but php still won't work. Is that a glitch, or did I do something wrong?
I'm using a pc with Windows 7. Could there be something wrong because of this?
