Can shopping cart display differently by item

I have set up my ecart object to have one item that can have multiple add ons with a price associated for each add on. There are other items that can be purchased without any add ons. Is it possible to have the shopping cart show the add ons by line item for Item one that has add ons and not show the item add on options for the other items?

You could do that if you are familiar with php, but it isn't an existing feature of any interface nor are there any tutorials on that topic specifically. Just about anything is possible with a small amound of php knowledge.

Would I need to either not use the eCart1 shopping cart? Or, would I be better off by using eCart1 for 1 set of items with options and use eCart2 shopping cart to display the other itmems?

I'd probably use the same cart for both and just add an IF statement in the php to treat different items differently based on the values in the cart.
