Set up before DNS pointed/propagated

I've never done this in this way before...but here goes...

can set-up and integration of the cms be done prior to the dns settings being pointed at the domain on the server using the temporary url for example ~mysite/

Thanks for any advice in advance.

There should be no issue installing before the DNS has propagated.

Thanks

Great... so if I understand you... no problem w/ set-up and with putting in content.

Thanks.

Yes, that is correct, it should not pose a problem to install PowerCMS and put content in.

Not loggin in?

Okay, it seemed to work... but the DNS has propagated to the new server and the CMS login is not working with the regular domain address (mysite.org). After entering username and password at the login page the page doesn't go anywhere. This is what I get in the fail url: admin/users_login.php?failed=1&

This is a new install.

Any ideas,
Scott

Not logging in?

Could it be the dns has not completely finished propagating on our end? (seeing new site on new server then old site at times)

DNS Changed over & No Login or Live Edit

Ok... Here goes.

The DNS seems to have propagated. But I cannot log in with the regular domain (vs. the ip as above). Indicates failed login and pages "goes nowhere". However I can make text changes using the IP address which show when viewing the regular domain address (but can't add graphics). So I can still log in using the ip address.

Also when logged in to the ip the regular domain is not showing live edit on the pages (if this helps)

Thanks for your assistance so far.

MySQL info

Hi Again,

Just poking around. In the MySQL DB in the wa_settings the "PCMS Remote Root" is indicating

/~mysite/myfolder/ as the root. Should this be?

Thanks,
Scott

Jason ByrnesWebAssist

the pcms root:
/~mysite/myfolder/

should probably just be:
/myfolder/

assuming that you access it using:
myfolder/

the login issue could be a session management issue.

try testing the servers session management using the sessiontest.php page from the following post:

Test servers session management

Hi,

I changed the DB w/ no luck.

Below are the results of the test you sent...

On the first link:

mysite.org/sessionTest.php?test=test

On the second link:

mysite.org/sessionTest.php

Where do I go from here?

Thanks for your continued help,
Scott
