no credit card entry page created with Authorize.net gateway

When I use the PayPal gateway, eCart generates a page for entering the customer's name & address info, as well as credit card info. But when I use Authorize.net as a gateway it only generates a page with customer name, address, etc., but no credit card entry fields... what's up?

The checkout wizard offers three choices for the type of transaction with authorize.net, 2 local methods (AIM, and Secure Source Credit Card) and one Remote Method (SIM).

The difference between the Local and remote checkout method is where the user enters the credit card information.

In a local checkout scenario, the user enters credit card info on a page on your site.

In a remote scenario, the user goes to the gateway site to enter credit card info.

Of your checkout page does not have fields for credit card data, it is because you selected the remote checkout method for authorize.net (SIM).

the same would happen if you selected to use PayPal Payments Standard instead of PayPal Payments Pro.

Authorize.net has 3 options. Which to use?

I don't know what these 3 options mean or do or which is best to use with eCart. Locally: AIM Credit Card, SecureSource Credit Card, and remote: Credit Card. Can you clarify?

which to chose is a personal preference. all three will work with eCart.

My preference would be to use the Local AIM Credit Card method.

however, using a local checkout method will also require an SSL certificate to be installed for the site since the customer will be entering sensitive information.
