How to update a hidden field from the database before UE sends the form

How to update a hidden field from the database before UE sends the form

I have implemented a send password form for UE to send. I followed the threads so I only send the form fields I want and that all works.

I added a hidden field to the form to receive the password from a record set after looking up the email address.

The problem is I need things to happen in the following sequence,
1. Take the email address from the form after the submit button is pressed
2. Have the record set updated based on the email address
3. Update the hidden field with the password
4. Have UE send the email.

Is there a way to sequence this with another hidden value which I update with each step, or is there a more elegant way to do this?

the order these events occur in is dependent on the order of the code.

to update the record, then send the email, make sure the update record code is before the update record code.

The issue for me then is that the Hidden field is only updated by the Form code wiich will not run again.

Can you give me the code to put the recordset updated value into the form hidden field?

I dont quite understand what you are trying to do.

Normally the update value would be typed in by the user, not passed through a hidden field.

What is it you are trying to update?

The user enters his email address in the form and hits the form submit button.
I look up his password, and send him an email containing the password.

I am using UE to do this because I want a more elaborate and formatted email than is provided by security assist.

I believe the only way to send values with UE is to have it on a form. This is why I have a hidden field on the form, which is what I am trying to stick the password into.

Everything is working but I don't know what the PHP code is to take a value out of a record set, and place it into a form value.

Once I have this I will place it before the UE code.

you cant do this using a hidden form element since you need to lookup the value when the form submits.

use a text box to enter the email address.

Create a recordset that filters the email column on the email form element.

Use the Set Session Value server behavior to capture the email address in a session variable.

Again, use the set session value to capture the password.

In universal Email, Click the Dreamweaver icon to use Dreamweaver to create your email message.

Where you wish to display the password, use the session bindings group.

I had to cut and paste the setting of the session variables in the code to put it after the recordset code.

For your last step I just dragged the session variable from the bindings panel to the page, which must have been correct.

Thank you very much!! That was much easier than I thought.
