Grey box displaying sometimes, others the map works

Grey box displaying sometimes, others the map works

I'm getting really weird results with the Google Map.

I'm using a recordset to pull in addresses. If I search for Glasgow or Stoke-on-Trent in my search form then I get the results returned. However, if I search for Stoke I get a blank map. I'm using a 'LIKE' query and I can see that it's getting the records in the table below the map so I know it's not a database problem.

Also, if I search for any city I've not used before e.g. London, nothing is displayed at all.
You can view my page here: retailer-search.asp to try it out.

Any help is appreciated.

you have two recordset on the page. One being used to populate the links at the bottom of the page:
rsGetRetailers:
SELECT * FROM tblRecommendedRetailers WHERE City LIKE MMColParam ORDER BY [Company Name] ASC

and the second is used for the map:
rsGetRetailersForMap:
SELECT * FROM tblRecommendedRetailers WHERE City = MMColParam

The first recordset uses LIKE, but the second one uses equals, change the second one to equals as well.

I feel like a right fool - now I've read your reply I remember seeing two recordsets. Thanks for your help I should be able to fix this now.

No worries, it sometimes takes two sets of eyes to see the road ahead.

I'm still having trouble with my Google Map. I know about the 2nd recordset thing now, but it's still not working. Now I'm getting this error message:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers</font> <font face="Arial" size=2>error '80040e18'</font>

<font face="Arial" size=2>Rowset position cannot be restarted.</font>

<font face="Arial" size=2>/tuscan/google_javascript/wagmp_map_1.asp</font><font face="Arial" size=2>, line 268</font>

The file wagmp_map_1.asp is the same as the one I attached previously. Please help...???!?!?

on your list retailers page, find the line:

rsGetRetailersForMap_cmd.ActiveConnection = MM_Tuscan_Connect_STRING

and change it to:

rsGetRetailersForMap_cmd.ActiveConnection = MM_Tuscan_Connect_STRING
rsGetRetailersForMap_cmd.ActiveConnection.cursorLocation = 3

Thank you for your help. I'm almost there now.

However, I have one final (strange) problem. I've changed the query type match from equals to LIKE in the SQL for rsGetRetailersForMap. When I use this I get a grey box in some instances instead of the map. An example is if I type Stoke in the search form instead of Stoke-on-Trent.

I've attached a copy of the list-retailers.asp page, and you can see the page itself at the URL I mentioned in my first post.

Thanks in advance.

what browser are you testing with?

I've tried with IE8, Fire Fox and Safari, and all work correctly when I test your page using the search term "stoke".

Perhaps, try clearing your browsers cache, it may be that the browser has cached the problem page.

I was using Google Chrome. It must've been a cache problem as the page is now displaying correctly for me too.

Thank you for all your help - very much appreciated.
