Shipping rule based on quantities

Hi There,

I've looked through the rest of the forum and can't seem to resolve my issue with shipping rules.

I've set up a cart (ecart5) for a client who wants to use the following simple rules:

1 item within category "A" ships at flat rate of £2.90
2 items within category "A" ships at flat rate of £4.40
3 items within category "A" ships at flat rate of £5.90
4 items within category "A' ships at flate rate of £7.40
5 items within category "A' ships at flate rate of £8.90

I've set a cart column containing the "CategoryA" value but am unable to create a rule that works.

I know the rules are working becuase I've also added a test rule to charge £15 for orders over £100

Any help would be greatly apreciated!

Phil

when creating the shipping rule, set the trigger to use "Number of items with a specific column value":

If the Total Number of items where 'Category' has a value of 'CategoryA' is '=' a value of '1'

Use a flat rate charge of 2.90

Create a separate rule for each other quantity.

Screen grab

Hi Jason,

Thanks for getting back to me. I have attahced a screen grab to show that is exactly what I was doing but for some reason it's not coming through in the basket.

Kind regards,

Phil

your screen grab shows that you are suing the ShipQuantity column and checking for a value of 1:

If the Total Number of Items where 'ShipQuantity' has a value of '1' is '=' a value of '1'

I though you said originally that you had a category column containing the value 'CategoryA'?

This is the column you should be using in your rule:

If the Total Number of items where 'Category' has a value of 'CategoryA' is '=' a value of '1'

Hi Jason,

Sorry, the screen grab is a little small... the column name in the screen grab is actually "ShipQualify" so it is in fact the correct column that is being used.

The value in that column is set to "1" so in theory it should work but I'm baffled (not difficult :-)) as to why it isn't.

Thanks in advance,

Phil

create a new page and add a new cart display to it.

In the cart display manager, on the second page, set it to show all columns, then send a link where i can see it, also send a copy of your cart page.

Hi Jason,

Thank you for your suggestion. In doing so I realised that I had reverted back to a version of the add to basket page that was not passing the ShipQualify value to eCart hence why it wasn't being included in the calculation.

I've added it now and it works.

Thanks once again and apologies for being a dunce!

Kind regards,

Phil
