can Power Store do this?

I would like to create a booking form for an apartment rental. I would like to know if it is possible to do this with Power Store. I already have a booking form that currently sends the booking details by email and all payments are then done manually by the apartment owner. What I would is to automate this so that the booking form is completed and the customer makes payment via a merchant account (probably will be using WorldPay).

Yes, PowerStore could do this, but the supported payment gateways for use with PowerStore are Paypal Express Checkout, PayPal Payments Pro and Authorize.net

Great, but it makes it less flexible if they are the only supported gateways. Would it be possible to modify to use other merchants or is that a flat 'no' to likes of WorldPay and others?

it is possible t use eCart to change the payment gateway that is used in power store but this is not a supported customization.
