Converting to UK Counties problem

Hi support

First, I converted three files to UK Counties, users_Registration.php, users_Profile.php and users_Update.php.

I then registered a new user and after entering the last security question, with all fields showing green, the screen validated and takes me to the welcome screen to log in. However, when I log in the user profile screen opens and the default "Choose a County" shows, not the county I chose when registering and will not update from this screen.

However in the database when I then checked in the Admin section using user_Details all was as expected showing the UK County I had used when registering. Using the update button in this Admin area, shows the same "Choose a County". Again it will not update using the users_Update.php file.

If it helps, you can try registering a new user www.northwalescu.co.uk and then log in to see the issue.

Alternatively, could someone take a look at my users_Profile (zip file attached) to see what error(s) I have made, as I suspect I have made the same error in users_Update.php.

Thanks in advance - Mac

On the registration page, you have changed all of the counties values:
<option value="Cheshire" >Cheshire</option>

but you have not changed the list on the profile page.

you will need to edit the list values on the profile page to match the list values on the registration page.

Hi Jason

Hope you had a good weekend.

From your reply, you say "but you have not changed the list on the profile page"

Well I am sure that I have made the changes in both the user_Registration.php and user_Profile.php to reflect UK Counties and I have checked that both are uploaded to the server.

Just so that we are comparing oranges with oranges, my assumptions are:
1: Login and you are taken to user_Profile.php, from here you can go straight to any of the protected pages in the site or change and update any of the user profiles fields.
2: If you chose to update a field and click update, if all OK you are redirected to proteted_Page.php, from where you can go to any of the protected pages in the site.

In my site, in fact each time you login, you are shown the user_Profile.php page as expected and you can select from a list of UK Counties. The problem occurs once you click update on this page and the page refreshes and the "Choose a County" shows in the field where I chose Denbigh or Cheshire etc.

By the way, at this point my visitors can go to any of the protected pages in my site, so this is a update frustration / inconvenience only for them at present.

I am assuming that the users_Registration.php is working OK as when I login as admin user and look at users_Detail.php I can see a UK County has be selected.

If it helps you to narrow down where my problem is occurring, whilst we are in the Admin area I find that users_Update.php also shows the same issue.

Thanks in advance.
Mac

well, the selected county should be stored in the UserState column

This is what is used to determine which item in the list should be selected.

What do you get if you add this code after the leading <body> tag:

php:
<?php echo("userState: ".$row_WAATKusers['UserState']."<br />"); ?>

Hi Jason

I get the following error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' in /home/fhlinux009/n/northwalescu.co.uk/user/htdocs/ursp100/users_Profile.php on line 263

sorry, there was a syntax error in the previous code, use this code instead:

php:
<?php echo("userState: ".$row_WAATKusers['UserState']."<br />"); ?>

Hi Jason

I get the following:

userState: Denbighshire - Sir D

In the database, the userState column is set to varchar(20)

this means that "Denbighshire - Sir Ddinbych" is being cut down to "Denbighshire - Sir D" when being inserted to the database.

you will need to modify the database and change the length of the UserState column to allow more characters.
