Value Lookup

Value Lookup

I apologize if this is confusing but I'm not sure how else to ask.

I would like to have dynamic text that gets its value from one table (favorites) but looks up it's label from another table (colors). For example, there's a page favorites_detail.php with dynamic text showing favorite color. I want to store the color as an integer in the favorites table looking up the label from the colors table. AND in favorites_detail.php I want the label to display, not the integer. I can see how to do that with insert and update pages but not with dynamic text as on a detail page. Thanks.

what you are describing is accomplished through a join query.

a join query takes data from two table and returns the results based on the Primary / Foreign key relation

see the following page for details:
sql_join_inner.asp

Thanks. I thought there might be something like that built into DataAssist. ADDT had it. Might be something to think about. I'll check out the link.
