Error: onClick error in waiz_validator.htm

Error: onClick error in waiz_validator.htm

I have recently purchased the HLML Validator and have the same error as others in certain situations.
* If it is a standard HTML site it works OK

Some of my sites are PHP and are "served" sites from a "testing server" on my computer. Within these sites are a mix of PHP and HTML pages. When I try to validate a HTML page I too get the error "onClick error in waiz_validator.htm"

Question:
* Why will it not validate the HTML pages that have a HTML extension within this served site?

I have tried an experiment of copying a PHP site from the "testing server" and creating a standard site (not requiring a "testing server") and I can validate the HTML and PHP pages.

Any suggestions?

Jack

PS I am using WinXP Pro (Sp3), IE7, Firefox 3.5, Dreamweaver CS3

If you would be willing to zip up your site and attach it here, I could test this error and see if I can reproduce it. It doesn't look like I am able to get this error with my files, so it might be something specific to your file.

I tried it on another profile and it worked, so what is it about profiles that breaks the validator?

I even tried it on a basic html file in the 1st profile, nothing but bare html page code, and it failed there. Then it worked in a new profile.

So what is it, DW profiles? Pleas explain

And why not a faq on this? What do I have to ask on a common problem?

I am also getting this error message. All of the pages in my site are php pages, and all of them throw the same error when trying to use the validator...

"While executing onClick in wajz_validator.htm, a JavaScript error occured."

Any solution to this yet?

By DW profile, are you referring to site definitions? How are the local info, remote info and testing server sections of your site definitions defined?

Yes, site definitions?
Not sure what your asking about the ftp setup?
I dont use local servers, and setup is standard Ftp settings.

So you're not sure if you're referring to site definitions or not? I'm unaware of anything called DW Profiles.

If you go to Site->Manage Sites... and select the site you're currently using, click edit and switch to Advanced view, what are the settings set up for the local info, remote info and testing server?

Will there be an answer/fix/update soon about this problem?

I haven't been able to reproduce the error, but it looks like if you were to start a new site definition and copy the files to that site and run surveyor it would be a workaround for the issue. Would that be satisfactory for you?
