Security - Logout doesnt stop access

Something doesnt work.

I have setup the security using the wizard - standard setup.

When i try to access a restricted apge I get redirected to the login page as I should the first time round.

When I login however and then logout I can then change the url and go to a resticted page - I thought LOGOUT would kill everything - it is not doing this.

What am I doing wrong

Please help.

Simon

for the logout page to be created properly, you must have Cookies Toolkit installed. Is Cookies toolkit installed?

if not, install it, then open the logout page.

Go to Window -> Server Beahaviors.

On the server behaviors panel, click the plus button.

Select WA Coolies Toolkit -> Clear Session

Set the trigger to before page load, and set it to clear all.

The log out page should also remove the cookies RememberMePWD and RememberMeUN, shouldnt it?

This can be added manually with cookie toolkit as well, but shouldnt it be automatically generated with the wizard?

No, the idea of the RememberMePWD and RememberMeUN is to auto populate the login page with the user name and password from the cookies.

Jason,
Yes, I know what it does, I just assumed when people logged out, they wanted to be completely logged out with out the ability for someone coming along after them, and being able to log in again easily, as their password and username is saved on the login page.

Personally, I guess I never use the log out function on my personal computer, since the session ends and you are technically logged out when you close your browser windows (although I have noticed with firefox, this is not always true), and on a public computer, I wouldnt check the remember me box

So, you are probably right to not have the wizard do that, as it is a matter of opinion what logging out constitutes.

Thanks
Tom

on a public computer, you should never check the remember me option on the login page.

The whole point of the remember me option is to auto populate the login page when you go to log back in after logging out.

To end a browsing session in fire fox, you must close the browser completely, not just the browser window.

Jason,
Yep, you are correct. Its just that sometimes firefox doesnt shut down all the way :-)

I have had all windows closed, and when I opened one, it still had my active session, and when I closed that window down, (all ff windows closed) I looked in task manager, and firefox was still running. That is what I was refering to. Doesnt happen very often, but occasionally. some glitch with firefox, I assume.
Anyway, I appreciate the response.

Hope you had a great holiday weekend!
