Latest products to display in main content area on top page

Hi,

I'm wondering whether it's possible to get a number of my latest products to be displayed in the main content area on the top page (the one that initially says "Buy all this software!")? How can I go about doing this?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Making modifications like this isn't something that is supported, since it requires custom coding.

Basically you would want to have a query that gets the latest product and information about the product. Then you would want to look at the code for the featured product or most popular and display it in the same way.

I wouldn't recommend doing something like this unless you're comfortable with both php and sql.

Update

Hi

not an ideal solution and no doubt someone will come back with a clever code to do what you want but heres a simple solution.

If you look at your site and view a product in the IE address bar you will see something like

Products_Detail.php?ProductID=5

once you know the format it's easy to just put a link on the page where you want it to show.

The when you want to change it add the product normally, view it is IE look at the address and change the ProductID= from 5 to say 23

I've tried it and for a non php coding solution it does as they say "work for me"

Yes, something like that would work, but that would be a manual addition to the page. It seems that an automatically updated version is what the user is looking for. It is definitely a short and sweet way to get it displayed, but you would have to make modifications on the page each time a new product is being displayed.
