Unable to create form to allow user to type in starting address...

I've tried following your solution recipe here:

promaps_formfielddirections_sr.pdf

I have been unable to get the form to work. I'm wondering specifically about Step 7 in the top of the solution where it tells you to click and add a form button. Then what?? What do I set the button to do??

I can post a link to an example page where I'm experiencing the problem later on if that helps...

If you are in design view and click inside the form. You can just apply the button with the default settings. This will apply a submit button that will submit the form.

If you are still having problems, please attach your page and I will take a look at your form code.

Jimmy,

Thanks for your assistance. I reinstalled everything and used coordinates instead of my default address, and it is working now.

However, is there any way to display a message on the page if a user types in a beginning address that Google cannot find? Currently if you type in an invalid address and hit submit, the page just reloads, there is no indication to the user of what happened. This seems like a logical thing to build into Pro Maps...

Thanks...

There isn't anything built in to Pro Maps to output an error when a user enters an address that's not recognized by google, so you'll have to custom code something like this. Since its custom coding I can point you in the correct direction, but you'll have to implement it yourself.

In your wagmp_map_<num>.php file in the google_javascript directory, you will want to find the code that looks like this:
directions = new GDirections(map, document.getElementById('wagmp_directions_1'));
GEvent.addListener(directions, "error", function() {
map.setCenter(wagmp_map_1_obj.points[0], 13);
map.addOverlay(wagmp_map_1_obj.markers[0]);
});
directions.load('from: ' + fromAddress.full + ' to: ' + address_0.full);
wagmp_map_1_obj.directions = directions;

It should be near the bottom. In the GEvent.addListener portion of the code, you would want to write your display error code:
GEvent.addListener(directions, "error", function() {
map.setCenter(wagmp_map_1_obj.points[0], 13);
map.addOverlay(wagmp_map_1_obj.markers[0]);
<add error display code here>
});
