Horizontal Menu Writer Menu not working in IE6

Horizontal Menu Writer Menu not working in IE6

I decided to post this question separately... on www.gateslodge.com the top horizontal menu does not display properly in IE6. It changes it to a vertical menu and pushes it all the way to the left side of the site! I have tried various fixes with no effect.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!!

Hi gregb,

IE6 needs specific width measurements, so you will need to specify these in a couple of rules in your menu_ie.css stylesheet:

menu_ie.css :

ul#cssmw li {
zoom:1;
background-image: none;
border-bottom: solid 1px black;
float: left;
margin-bottom: -1px;
padding: 0 0 0 0;
position: relative;
white-space: nowrap;
z-index: 100;
width:105px /* Add this line */
}

ul#cssmw ul.level-1 li a, ul#cssmw ul.level-1 li a.link {
background-color: #f0b478;
background-image: url("../cssmw_images/topNavDropdown.jpg");
border-bottom: solid 1px #f0b478;
border-right-style: solid; /* Remove this line */
color: #644b32;
display: block;
font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
font-size: .7em;
font-style: normal;
font-weight: bold;
margin: 0 0 0 0;
padding: 5px 5px 5px 5px;
text-decoration: none;
width: 125px; /* Changed to 125px from auto */
outline-style: none;
}

And there needs to be a rule for the topNav div that is specific to (lte) IE, so you might as well tack this to the end of your menu_ie.css:

#topNav {
position: absolute;
top: 84px;
right: 73px;
width: 775px;
left: 180px;
}

Thanks!

Neilo,

Thanks so much for helping out! This solved the issue for me, and now I can get some sleep! I am most certainly not a web developer, and only foray into it when I have to, so this one really drove me nuts...

Thanks again for your help!

Greg
