Error when creating a Database connection

Hello:
I am trying to get set up. I am VERY confused and new and since I only have 13 days left to get somewhere, I need some hand holding. (sorry)--
Running on a Mac 10.5.8-DWCS4. It looks like I have successfully set up the local database.

1.But why are there two carts? (crankyduck_cart) INSIDE is another folder of the same name.
2. I do not understand how to set up the DM file so that it finds the local database. I created a php file named teeshirts. I'll worry about uploading files to the real server later--I just need some guidance on how the software works.

I really need some one on one help if anyone can walk me through this?

Thanks

Miguel

the first step is to set dreamweaver site

click on DW menu "site" ---> then click on "manage site" ---> "new"

you should check the documentations here

support/

it explains all this detail by detail for mac or windows.

ok second screen

Conection name: any_name_you_want

User name: root (wamp amost always places root)

User Password: root (if this is not acepted leave it empty or check the wamp documentation on the db default pass when installed)

Database: (click select and search for your database)

Test to see if it conects.

Hope this helps

The 404 error on creating the database connection means that there is an issue with the way the site definition is created.

specially the issue is the URL Prefix on the Testing server tab.

See the "Defining a Dynamic Site in Dreamweaver" and "Creating your database connection in Dreamweaver" tutorials on the following page for guidance in getting you site definition set up and the database connection set up.
