Password Encryption and Random Password Features

Password Encryption and Random Password Features

I am in the process of setting up my user registration solution pack into our website. Is URSP setup to encrypt passwords imputed into the registration page? Ideally, I would like the passwords to be encrypted for additional security of our users.

Does USRP offer a random password feature? If so, will it be able to offer a random password if the original stored password is encrypted? The reason why I ask is when I tested the 'forgot password' feature, I received the encrypted results of the password (this was done when I attempted to encrypt the passwords in my sql database).

No, the user registration solution is not set up to store encrypted passwords.

you can modify the Registration and login page of the user registration solution pack to store the encrypted passwords by following the "Introduction to SecurityAssist" tutorial in the Solution Recipe Section of the security Assist support page.

when you encrypt the password in the database, you will need to also modify the forgot password page. You will need to edit the Email Password server behavior to have it send the NewPW session variable instead of the password from the database, the tutorial touches on this in the "Updating Send Password" section.
