Power Store 3 drop down menu

Power Store 3 drop down menu

I seem to be having a memory lapse or something here. On my Power Store 3 we have what I call a 3 level drop down on the main menu bar. You put your cursor over the main menu "Product", the drop down appears with a second level of categories, you then choose "Book Shoppe", another level of categories fly out to the right, you put your cursor over "Stationary", and here is the problem.

There is then "Notecards" and "Calendars", but you can't see "Calendars", and for the life of me I can't find where in the CSS file or the CSS Menuwriter to set or fix this.

Okay I am adding to this, after looking at the menu.css and menustyle.xml files they seem to be a little different. The menustyle.xml file has code for a 3rd level but the menu.css file only has code for the 2nd level. If I add code into the menu.css file for a 3rd level, nothing happens, it doesn't make a difference at all. Also after going into the CSSMenuWriter, there is markup for the 3rd level.

So, the menu has a main, then level 1, level 2, and level 3. But the menu.css file does not contain a level 3. And again, when I add a level 3 to the menu.css file nothing changes at all.

Can someone please take a look at index.php and please help with this.

Thanks.

Larry

I'm not seeing the same problem as you are. I see the third level menus without any issue. Also, under the Products->Booke Shoppe, there is only a menu item for Special Volumes, nothing for stationary

Hi Jimmy,

I had change the Book Shoppe menu since I originally posted here. But I am still experiencing the problem with the rest of the menu that has a 3rd level. I have attached 2 screen shots, 1 from Firefox, and 1 from Google chrome. IE and Opera look the same as the others. I also attached the menu.css and menustyle.xml files in a zip file.

FiFi's Boutique > Special Apparel has the problem as does Emporium > Shirts, and Gift Shoppe > Special Handmade Items, and Bazaar > Garden Flags. The second level blocks out parts of the 3rd level. And as I mention in my original message, I can't seem to find the problem in the CSS file.

I should be able to adjust this menu, right?

Can anyone give me some insight on this, or simple instructions to fix the menu in power store.

It looks like the issue is that the third level menu items are marked with the class level-2, so if you add level-3 menu items it doesn't affect the styling at all. You will have to change the third level menu items to have level-3 as the class and then add the level-3 styling to the css file and then you should be able to add the correct margins to the menu items.

Thanks Jimmy,

The third level menu items are dynamically generated, correct? So now just where do I change the third level menu items from class-level 2 to class-level 3. I guess I am just missing something here because I cannot see where to change the class levels. It wouldn't be in the CSS, and because they are dynamically generated, I cannot seem to find where the class is set.

Can you please shed a little more light on this.

this is getting just a little ridiculous

Okay, this is getting just a little ridiculous. I have asked the question about the third level of the main menu not showing proper, I received a reply from Jimmy

It was my impression that Power Store was suppose to work "out of the box", does that mean that out of the box power store does not support a third level on the menu bar? This should be automatic, right?

index.php

On the top/main menu bar, point to "Products" the menu drops down with choices, on the bottom there is a category named "Bazaar", the menu then opens to the right with more choices, if you put your cursor over "Garden Flags", here is where you will notice that the second level options are blocking/covering the third level options. This happens where ever there is a third level.

I would like to know where/which file do I need to look at to add/correct the problem. Again this should be an automatic correction in power store, and if not, it sure would be nice to know where I need to look and what I need to correct just so this will work correctly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It works fine out of the box, but you modified the menus. I will open a backend ticket so we can get some files from you and take a look at your issue in more detail.

There were some minor modifications that were made to the menu.css that caused the issue. Its recommended not to use Menu Writer to modify the menus.

Jimmy, isn't menuwriter the product that was used to create the original menu. And if it was, why would you recommend not using the same product to modify the menu?
