How to accept orders

How to accept orders

Hi,

On my checkout pages, I can get to the confirmation page, but that's as far as I can go. When I click submit, it doesn't send me information and I don't know how to set up a database to keep track of my orders. Is there a tutorial or a different product I need?

Thank you

In order to keep track of the orders you will need to have a db in place. There is a free one that is available from the eCart support page, it is called the 'free eCommerce MySQL database'. Here is a link to the support page for eCart:

ecart/

On this page you should also take a look at the getting started guide. It covers the creation of the checkout with the checkout wizard along with the other parts of the eCart.

I actually already have downloaded that database and followed all the steps in the getting started guide except for the payment gateway. I'm working on my application for that right now. Do I just need a payment gateway to finalize the process?

Currently, when I test it I just get to the end of the order and when I click submit, it just takes me to a broken link. I want to know how to change it so that it accepts the order and takes them back to where they were.

When you configure the checkout wizard you will need to select your Payments Gateway then you will need to add in the needed details for your gateway. In the last page of the checkout wizard is a screen that shows all of the pages that will be used and the names of them. Here you can alter any of the page names that it uses by default with your own page names.

When you finish the wizard it will create the complete checkout experience. If you use a local checkout you will stay on the site the whole time and get to either a checkout success page or a failure page.

What gateway are you using and how do you have things setup currently?

I am working on the application process for Merchant One, which will be a local checkout. I didn't list any payment gateways. How do I reenter the checkout wizard? Is that possible?

You can't reenter the checkout wizard, but you can create a new set of pages by running through the wizard again. I'm not familiar with Merchant One, but you can select from any of the supported gateways within the checkout wizard by selecting the credit card option on the first screen.

So is Merchant One not going to be supported?

And is all the work that I've done on the pages since I created the pages going to just be gone?

Unless Merchant One is using one of these other processors in the background it is not supported. As for the work on the pages it will remain if you do not overwrite the pages, if you run the checkout wizard again you can create a new set of pages then update the new set of pages.
