Determining/Setting Weights for USPS Shipping Prices in PS3

A. Is there a way to allow the customer to determine which process of shipping they would require to change the shipping costs? My customer is requesting this feature...

B. Is there a way to set weights in PS2 Admin Products to ounces? All I have been able to record for each product listed is 1 pound minimum and if they order 10 products that weight
only 5 pounds the shipping is 50 US dollars for local shipping! What can I do to remedy this or offer a solution to my client?

Thanks for any input...Mark

Hi

what you ask can be done but not with PS3 as it stands.

PS3 is a standalone products which only allows basic modifications

The changes you want can be impelemented I suspect uising the ecart module - which is not free. I'm also not sure how much re coding would be required.

Standalone product with LIMITED functionality?

How is it possible that this shopping cart was concieved of, implemented, REVISED, and reoffered to consumers as a fully functional, completely editable shopping cart with too many functions to list and not have shipping weights in oz?

Hi

if you do a search through the forum there are a few threads relating to issues similar to the one you raised the suggested solution seems to be the ecart module.

What is the shipping option that you have selected in your admin area for PowerStore? There might be a more appropriate one for you to select based on your requirements.

As for the weight being in ounces the PowerStore is hard coded to work with pounds. If you would like to get the proper weight for your items in ounces without modifying the store with eCart you could just take the ounce weight and divide by 16 to get the pound decimal value. For instance, a 5oz item would be about .31 pounds. Other than this you would need to make use of eCart to alter the default weight unit.

Eric, in the Admin panel when I set up a new product...then try to enter .31 in the
"weight in Pounds" entry box...I get an "invalid format" in red under the box and the box
turns red... I have attached a jpeg to show you.

When you are entering a decimal value for the weight like this you need to include the 0, and the oz part is not allowed. It should be entered like this:

0.31

AH-HA! Eric, thanks so much..I can't believe I screwed that one up and couldn't think of it.....

What is your opinion to the other questions I had? Is it possible to enable other shipping options at the request or choice of the customer? Is this changed possible by using ECart
to adjust PowerStore and if so, how?

Thanks again,
