Parse Error noted on site pages

We just went in to adjust some of the email messages and am now getting the following appear on our site pages:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /homepages/12/d319251460/htdocs/PowerStore/WA_Globals/WA_Globals.php(58) : eval()'d code on line 1

Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cache limiter - headers already sent (output started at /homepages/12/d319251460/htdocs/PowerStore/WA_Globals/WA_Globals.php(58) : eval()'d code:1) in /homepages/12/d319251460/htdocs/PowerStore/WA_eCart/WA_eCart_Definition_PHP.php on line 480

How do we correct this, and what caused it in the first place??

More on this

Now when I try to login through the Admin section I can no longer login. Plus, I get all this at the top of the page:

It looks like a value in your settings is causing this problem. When you were updating your settings what exactly did you change? Is there a single or double quote in any of the values you updated? There are issues using these characters within your settings.

If you cannot update the settings by logging in you can always check on them from the db directly. In here the WA Settings table will hold all of the setting names and values. You can find the one that you change and update it here.

The only thing we did when this happened was I was adding in the email address for the shipping replies, payment replies, that was all. Nothing else was done or changed on any of the code. It was all being done through the online Admin login.

Also, what I did try was to reupload the corrupt pages as I noticed the file sizes were different on the site than what they were on my local drive where I stored the original files.

As I am newer to this whole area of PHP, I am not familiar or understanding how you would like me to go about making changes to these items. for the db, I am not sure where that is located. We are using 1&1 as our host.

Eric:

Here's my thought, and let me know if I am on the right page or not.

You are asking if there is single quote in the line. Could this be that when I entered a user in the database, myself, my last name has an apostrophe, ' in my last name. Could this be the issue????

If this is the issue, then should the program note something that when anyone with an Irish last name that contains an apostrophe enters in that name that they need to omit the apostrophe in their name??? Maybe something for an update??

Am I on the right track here with what the issue could be?? If so, I will just kill this database and create a new one as I have no idea on how to edit this line. If you have a suggestion on how I do that, please let me know. I really need to get this corrected and updated as we are supposed to be live this weekend.

I think you are on the rite track with this, if you entered an apostrophe, single quote, or double quote into any of the settings values this could cause the problem you are reporting.

To fix this in the db directly you will need to access your db from the GUI tool that you use to administer your db. Do you use phpMyAdmin, SQLyog, MySQL Administrator, or a tool like that to access your db?

You will need to get into your db and take a look at the wa_settings table within it. In here you can see each setting by name and the value for it. If you see any single quotes you should remove them or replace them.

use this for double quote:

php:
"

use this for single quote

php:
&#145

If you have a difficult time getting to your db to edit it you might have an easier time deleting the db and starting the process over if you do not have many items or categories in your store.
