Don't know where to start, replacing ADDT

Hi All,

I don't even know the right place to post this question.

I created a website index.php with the help of ADDT. This includes a user registration system, pages with access levels, and a couple forms created with ADDT's Insert Record Wizard which also use the send email and file upload server behaviors. This form submission.php I am partiularly pleased with.

I have purchased WA's DW Ext Super Suite, but I don't have a clue how to get started and which WA extensions to use first.

I am not a programmer, nor do I know PHP, I rely completely on these tools (ADDT & WA). But I need to take action before my host (GoDaddy) installs PHP 5.2.10 or 5.3, they are currently at 5.2.8.

Do I have to completely recreate the site/pages? How should I begin? With which WA tool?

I was in exactly the same situation.

I probably wouldn't bother re writing the site for data-assist

That link shows that you can change some things in the includes that will make the ADDT site work with 5.3 (but will break the dreamweaver addt links i.e. you wont be able to edit with menus etc)

As for learning WA, you will have to look at the support files in your login area, and follow the getting started guides. It is not ADDT, so you will have to learn something new. But I have been working with it for a few months now (but I do have a working knowledge of php) and like all things, the more you use it and have to solve problems, the more you understand it.

Did you check out the support files? or the link about fixing ADDT for 5.3?

Yes, I have looked at the docs and I know about the ADDT fixes. I'm not interested in fixing ADDT. I want to switch my sites over to WA from ADDT.

Hi,

You should not have to recreate your site to use our extensions. You can just use our extensions where its needed.

I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to do, but if you could explain to me, i will assist you in getting started using our extensions.

I wish to remove ADDT's user registration and access levels and replace them with those from WA Super Suite.

Also, I wish to replace the ADDT insert record and email letter functions from the form mentioned above, and replace them with WA. Since my 1st post, I beleive I have removed all the ADDT server behaviors from the form, now how do I convert the form into an insert record page and add the automatic sending of an email letter to the submitter, when the form is submitted.

You will need to use the DataAssist Insert Server Behavior. In DW, open the Server Behaviors Panel (Window -> Server Behaviors) and click the + button and select DataAssist and then the Single Record Server Behavior. The wizard should be easy to use.

Similarly, for the email question, you can select Universal Email and add an email server behavior and make sure to select the form post for the triggers.
