Master Categories not displaying Subcategory contents

Master Categories not displaying Subcategory contents

Having an issue with a PS3 install, upgraded from PS2:

In the accordion side menu, and the main menu, clicking on a master category does not display the items contained in the subcategories. It seems to be displaying a random subset of the items. There are no items that have only the main category set, just the subcategories.

All of the items were originally assigned only to the master category in PS2. With the PS3 upgrade, I created subcategories and reassigned all items to them. Since users are going to expect to able to see all the items contained in the main category if they click on it, I need to be able to fix this behavior.

Thanks.

One of the cool things about PS3 is that you can assign products to multiple categories. This way you can have complete control over what items the user sees when they click on the main category.

So you can assign all of the sub category items to the main category or just the ones that you would like the user to see when they click on the main category. You have complete control over this. To assign a product to more than one category you just need to hold the Ctrl key when clicking on multiple categories.

Ah, fantastic. I'm really glad that you've added this feature. You may want to clarify that in the docs for those of us used to the way PS2 worked. And thanks for the prompt reply:)

In the adding products document there is a mention of adding items to multiple categories but I have also send a request to documentation to review this to determine if we could add in some more info.
