Installation Issues

I'm using bluehost.com hosting, and helping a friend with this site. I uploaded the files right into the public directory (public_html) the address for the website is here:
www.afrofunk.biz

when i attempt to navigate there in a browser to run the install, I get two errors of a file missing.

Warning: require_once(../admin/common/properties.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home7/afrofunk/public_html/install/global.php on line 2

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '../admin/common/properties.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home7/afrofunk/public_html/install/global.php on line 2

I'm using a defined dreamweavers site and traditional FTP uploads- everything seems cool, no errors or incomplete files. I double back and make sure that I've uploaded the EXACT file (install/global.php). As I'm new to this I have no idea what line two indicates. Once again, I get the same message saying the file doesn't exist. I haven't used much PHP/MySQL, so please help. Do I need to upload to a built MySQL database or something? I feel out of my depth. Thanks!

Hi dylpaul,

The error mesages are saying (as you have probably noticed) that the PowerGallery set-up can't find the 'properties.php' file where it thinks it should be. It is looking for it at properties.php which returns a 'Not Found (404) error if you navigate there directly.

The surest way to sort things out would be to upload the complete contents of your downloaded PowerGallery folder (PowerGallery 1.0.0 Complete Files) into a new folder in the root directory of your remote site, not into the root directory itself. Call the new folder whatever you like (i.e. gallery).

That should allow you to begin the install process as described in the Getting Stared Guide

You will need to have details of your database connection (localhost, database name, database username, database user password) ready to enter during the set-up process. You should be able to create a new database or find the details of an existing database from the control panel of the site that you are uploading to.
