Loop over form field for multiple insert

Thread began 2/26/2010 11:11 am by rick178787 | Last modified 3/01/2010 3:50 pm by rick178787 | 643 views | 2 replies |

Loop over form field for multiple insert

another ADDT refugee here, new to WA.

I probably just haven't found it yet, but here's what I need to do:

1. populate multiple tables from a form on insert/update
2. get the record number ID of that just inserted record
3. take that ID and loop over multiple entries in a comma separated "keywords" field and do multiple inserts in a look up table

example for 3: insert> record ID & keyword1, record ID keyword1

recipe, soup, tomato

record | keyword
5 recipe
5 soup
5 tomato

This was pretty easy with Custom Trigger in ADDT, but I'm having trouble doing it in WA DA.

Did you check the DataAssist menu in the Server Behaviors tab. While I am not exactly sure what you are trying to accomplish, everything you mention should be doable with the "Manage Relational Tables", Update Multiple Records, and Insert Multiple under the DataAssist menu. Keep in mind, this is not so much a wizard as it is just the server behaviors... so you will need to likely create the form to have the inputs you want but then you will be able to apply the above behaviors to add the processing code for you.

Best regards,
