Updating Site Files Via FTP Connection

A template updating pages that depend on it works fine (updates all pages) local site / testing server. However, I notice, when I try to apply changes to a template via a dreamweaver FTP connection site it doesn't update the other pages? Any one else have this or am I the only one?

making changes to a template and uploading those changes are two separate processes.

Dreamweaver identifies pages that are based on a template by looking for the following line on each page in your site:
<!-- InstanceBegin template="/Templates/Main.dwt.php" codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->

When you upload files using Dreamweaver FTP, it is not looking for he pages based on a template, it is just uploading the pages you told Dreamweaver to upload.

You may get a message asking if you want top upload dependent files, but this is not the same thing. a dependent file is a linked file such as CSS or javascript.

You have to manually tell Dreamweaver what pages to upload
