Installation with existing site

Hello,

I'm going to put up Powerstore and slowly port over an existing site to it. I can't upload it to the root directly because it will override my existing site. If I upload and set up Powerstore to it's own directory, will I run into problems moving directories once I'm ready to go live?

You should start this process by making a copy of your current PowerStore database. Once you have done that you can add the new PowerStore to a sub directory and run the installation. During the installation make sure to choose the copy of the db.

You will also need to run a script to update the PowerStore 2 products to work in PowerStore3, here is a link to the page with more info:

upgrading_ps2-ps3.php

When it is all setup you should make a copy of your current PowerStore 2 files, then move the PowerStore 3 files to the root of the site and test it out.

Hi Eric,

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear enough. The current site is not PowerStore, it was done through eCart 4.0. The new site would be PowerStore. But it sounds like from your response that I can install it in a sub-directory and then move it to the root without any problems once I'm ready. Right?

Yes, if you do the install on the live server you should be able to move it out of a subdirectory into the root without problem. Sorry about the PowerStore2 assumption, I have been fielding a lot of questions around upgrading and didn't notice that you were not using this one.
