menu.css does not always update when changes are made to the menu

Dreamweaver CS4 - Adobe, Web Premium Suite.
Menu Writer updated to the latest version.

I have a custom menu I created and saved as a theme.
I create the menu on an html page and save the page.

Bug: I reopen the menu in Menu Writer and make some changes to the theme width, height, margin, padding, etc.. of the menu items in the main menu (top level).

I then click "apply" then "finish". "saving as a preset" is checked or not, makes no difference.

Result: Dreamweaver css styles do not update with the changes and the page remains unchanged in design view. If I go back into Menu Writer and check the settings I just changed they are correct and show the changes I made. The changes are just not reflected in either css styles or the design view of the page in Dreamweaver. If I close and reopen the page the changes are not there.

Any ideas as to what i'm doing wrong?

couple of things to check:

1) Make sure that none of the files from the CSSMenuWriter directory are open in Dreamweaver or another application while editing the menu.

2) Make sure the menu.php, menu_ie.css and menu.css are not set to read only.

3) Have you enabled the Dreamweaver Check in/ Check out option? if so, you must check out the menu.php, menu_ie.css and menu.css before editing the menu.

You are correct. It has to do with the file being open in Dreamweaver when the menu is edited.

I had been testing and I had created the menu object in both the template that was the base for the html file and in the html file it's self. If I clicked on the script tag to edit the menu in the html file the menu would not update correctly.

I removed the second menu and kept only the menu in the template, then edited the template, clicked on the script tag to edit the menu... Joy and salvation ensues.

Thanks for the tips.
