Moving my site to new serer

Hi all
I am having an issue moving my complete site from one domain I have to another domain.
Basically I have 2 domains registered. I built my site live on 1 domain and am now trying to move my site to it's final domain.
I have tried doing it in the following ways and all don't work
1 I used FTP software to coy the entire continents from my completed domain to the 2nd domain this did not work
2
I did a full site backup of my completed site in cpannel and restored this to my 2nd domain, this resulted in the site templates all going good but none of the content within thepages came across
3 I tried to backup mysql databse on my completed domain and restoring mysql onto the 2nd domain, with the same result as above

Am I doing something wrong or missing a step here, I thought all the data for the site is contained in mysql, am I wrong ?

Any help greatly appreciated

Thank you
